This is saifon and welcome to my video library thread. 2K A Total War Saga: Thrones of Britannia.846 A Total War Saga: Fall of the Samurai. In my opinion yes, but shogun 2 remains as my favorite TW game. Imagine you get to play the same battles over and over for each of your 28 armies every turn. Despite 3k's unit variety, the battles play out more or less the same. You don't have those 6 samurai vs a full stack of yari ashigaru battles, or Takeda's massive cavalry army vs Shimazu's samurai stack. and the army with 3 generals always wins. At first, I was pretty interested in the new retinue system - each general has 6 retinues which automatically regenerate for free even when they are completely wiped out, but as you play, you discover that each army either has 6+1 general, 12+2 generals or 18+3 generals. However, every battle feels incredibly similar. The enemies don't just stand in rain of arrows or charge in a suicidal fashion. It doesn't do stupid things like in shogun 2. In Shogun 2, you normally don't have more than a few armies and it doesn't get boring. The beginning of 3k is like 10/10 fun, but quickly deteriorates into like a 5/10. Because of this, you're responsible for managing over 25 armies after mid-game and keeping an eye out for all fronts. It's HUGE and there's hardly any choke points. Both are quality games, but I like the samurai theme better than 3k, so Shogun 2 is a more interesting game for me. In Records mod they are closer to regular generals. I don't have a problem, only having some stuttering when there was 20k soldiers fighting at once during battle.Įconomy is closer to Fall of the Samurai, when your single city can get many slots for buildings, but you need to take villages for grabbing food and other resources in the provinces.Įach village has a garrison, on higher tiers those garrisons are even bigger so it's not that difficult to defend like in Thrones of Britannia where you got no garrisons at all.Ĭharacters are a huge aspect of this game, each of them has special skills, they can be very powerful on the battlefield if you play Romance mod. Shogun 2 is set in 16th-century feudal Japan, in the aftermath of the nin War during the Ashikaga shogunate. It is part of the Total War series and returns to the 16th-century Japan setting of the first Total War game, Shogun: Total War, after a series of games set mainly in Europe and the Middle East. Population is back in 3K, bigger population the bigger benefits city gets for income and replenishment, but it will also make public penalty grow. There are a lot of options and constructing deals is very easy to do.Īgents were superior in Shogun 2. In any case, it's way better than Rome 2, Attila and Warhammer.ĭiplomacy working, probably the first time in TW game. There are already plenty of mods to adjust the battles to your liking if you're not happy with them.įor most people, yes, though I've seen some people with issues here. Archers are just as dangerous as they are in Shogun. Frontline infantry feel a bit weak while shock cavalry decide most battles. The map is pretty large, but the factions are placed mostly towards the north end (as they historically would be) which leaves the southern part of the map to be empty and desolate.īattles are decent. How is the campaign map? How are the battles? ![]() You can assign characters to different governing positions and they'll have various effects on your faction. They have their own interests and you'll have to manage their satisfaction. The family tree and politics in general have been improved. It's not executed very well in my view and I haven't spent much time with it beyond my first playthrough. If they're hired, you get access to spying actions. Definitely one of the standout features.Īgents have been removed and replaced with an espionage system where you send a spy into another faction's recruitment pool. Discussions, strategies, stories, crude cave-drawings, and more for Medieval 2, Empire, Shogun 2, Rome 2, Attila, Thrones of Britannia, Warhammer, Three Kingdoms and others. improved?ĭiplomacy has had a pretty large overhaul.
